How It Works

RockTape, like other kinesiology tapes, works by leveraging the principles of biomechanics and neurophysiology to provide support and promote optimal movement and function of the musculoskeletal system. Kinesiology tape was first used by acupuncturists and chiropractors in Japan, today kinesiology tape is used by a wide variety of health professionals throughout the world to both prevent and treat injuries and pain. Its effectiveness is based on several key mechanisms.

  1. Mechanical Support: RockTape’s elastic properties allow it to stretch and contract in a way that is similar to the natural elasticity of muscles and skin. When applied correctly, it can provide external support to muscles and joints. This support can help distribute forces more evenly, reduce strain on injured or fatigued tissues, and provide stability during movement without limiting range of motion.
  2. Pain Modulation: The tape’s gentle, continuous pull on the skin can stimulate sensory receptors known as mechanoreceptors.
