Time to head to Middlemore

Yes- you heard right. Me, myself and I- Miss Treena Harris- is headed to Middlemore Hospital. I haven’t been able to confirm it until now as my placement was very late notice but joyfully accepted. But remember this- it is only a loan. I will be coming back to Southern Podiatry.

Why?

Well- it is time. You may recall that I am a Registered Nurse as well as a Podiatrist. In order to keep our qualifications and receive an annual license to work within our profession of choice (also known as practicing certificates), you need to complete time in each profession.

The blood, sweat and tears for Expo.

So how did the expo go? Was it all that it promised to be? Did things run to plan?

All we can say is “What a wonderful 10th Birthday the Franklin Positive Ageing Expo had”.

This event is one of those quiet achievers for us. It is a lot of work and organising- to coordinate all the team for the day, get our flyers and promotional material together, and still have sanity at the end of the day.

Yes- Treena can tell you proudly that her head hit the pillow very early that night (almost a nana)- but surely that is an indication of a great busy day.

It happens all around us- Can you recognise it?

This week is about Elder Abuse Awareness.  Southern Podiatry is supporting this  campaign which is in its tenth year.

As Registered Medical Professionals, Treena and the Podiatrists are aware of the statistics that accompany this type of abuse in all its forms. Southern Podiatry is a safe place for the young and old.

Whilst the medical teams know what this abuse is- how can you recognise it? And what is it?

The Southern Podiatry team learn to cook.

It was with bittersweet sadness that we held our Christmas function last week.

We celebrated our wonderful team with an exciting cooking class, and in the same breathe bid farewell to Kimberly Scott- one of our Podiatrists.

For the cooking class, we chose the Vietnamese Summer Rolls, followed by 5 Spice Duck with Orange Sauce and for the dessert- it was a beautiful tart. The pictures show the story in more detail than I can possibly write.
